On April 1, 2011, the Bureau of Labor Statistics published the most recent unemployment rate for March 2011 of 8.828% down from February’s rate of 8.922%. That’s the overall rate. The March rate for management, professional and related types of workers is 4.3% (this is the lowest rate in the last 23 months). The March rate for people with college degrees is 4.4% (slightly up from the 4.2% in January and 4.3% in February)

Remember that “Unemployment” is an emotional word. We want everyone who wants a job to find and have an opportunity to work. Unemployment can never be ZERO, and is in fact, disruptive to the economy if it gets too close to zero. Market leaders believe the optimal number to be just under 6%.
