The number of unemployed workers rose in 31 of the 50 states last year, but North Carolina bucked the trend.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Tar Heel State’s unemployment rolls decreased by 14,000 workers in 2010.
South Carolina followed suit, dropping 5,000 from its unemployment lines last year.
Michigan registered the biggest reversal, paring its unemployment rolls by 51,000. California, however, posted the largest increase, with 197,000 more workers unemployed in 2010 than in 2009
